We’re zooming in for a closer look at three different timepieces in our latest video. This time, we’ve selected three chronographs that have made solid efforts at usurping the Rolex Daytona from its place as the king of chronographs. So, have they succeeded? Well, there’s no denying that each has its unique charm. The Tudor Black Bay Chrono is a challenger from within the same family. Rolex’s sister company has enjoyed a lot of success with their Black Bayseries, so it came as no surprise when Tudor released a chronograph version of this 41-mm diving watch in 2017. On the other hand, the Zenith El Primero Chronomaster showcases the brand’s history as a true chronograph specialist. They were among the earliest manufacturers to join the race to create the world’s first automatic chronograph in 1962. Then there’s the Speedmaster, a watch that can hold its own next to the Daytona’s rich history and tradition. In fact, in terms of history, the Speedmaster has a leg up as the first watch on the Moon! Ultimately, the choice of the industry’s top chronograph is a subjective one. What do you think makes a great chronograph? We’ve explored some key characteristics to help you get started.
