In honor of Singles Day, we’re showing you some unisex watches that would make a great gift for yourself without coming off as eccentric. After all, timepieces are made to be shared – it’s both sustainable and a great way to connect with people. Thanks to their timeless designs and classic sizes, these timepieces never go out of style, making them perfect companions. I’ve chosen models that I’ve been particularly impressed by and that I most like sharing with friends.
Rolex Datejust
The Rolex Datejust is a prime example of a perfect unisex watch. Since its introduction in 1945, it has developed into a classic that combines elegance and functionality. Its timeless design, characteristic Oyster case, and top-notch reliability make it the legend it is today. It is available in case diameters from 28 to 41 mm, but the 36-mm version is the ideal unisex choice, as it looks good on almost any wrist. The cyclops lens over the date is not only the watch’s trademark, but also functionally useful. The Datejust is available in many different materials and dial colors, so there really is something for every taste – though it does make deciding a little more difficult. If I had to choose just one unisex watch to own, it would be the Rolex Datejust. It may not be the most original choice, but it’s my top pick. At the end of the day, no other watch combines reliability and elegance as well as the Datejust.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso
The Reverso from Jaeger-LeCoultre is the most versatile watch in the world – and therefore another perfect unisex watch. The timeless Art Deco design and characteristic godrons (grooves) on the case sides appeal to both men and women. The watch comes in countless variations – different sizes, materials, movements, and complications. Everyone can find their perfect model in the collection. The reversible case was actually designed to protect the dial when playing polo, but the back can also be used for engraving; for example, to commemorate an achievement or moment with a special person. The Reverso is made even more versatile by the band changing system on current models. You can attach a new strap in a matter of seconds, giving you a watch with a completely new character. Elegant with a black leather strap or sporty with an ostrich leather strap, the Reverso can be styled to your heart’s desire. This makes the Reverso the most versatile unisex watch out there.
Grand Seiko Heritage Collection Spring Drive Snowflake
The world of Japanese watchmaking also has exciting unisex watches to offer, such as the Grand Seiko Snowflake. It owes its name to its dial, which is inspired by the snowy landscape of the Shinsu region of Japan. It is not simply painted white, but has a snow-like texture that radiates depth and vibrancy. The watch is also a technical masterpiece. It is powered by a Spring Drive caliber that combines mechanical and electronic elements, enabling exceptionally precise timekeeping. Characteristic of this caliber is the gliding motion of the second hand – a beautiful symbol of the gentle yet constant flow of time. With a diameter of 41 mm, the watch can be worn on both slim and more robust wrists. The bracelet and case are made of titanium, making the watch very light and comfortable to wear despite its size. All of the edges are rounded, giving the watch has a harmonious and elegant appearance. The Grand Seiko is more than just a watch, it’s a work of art for the wrist that combines the beauty of nature and technology in perfect harmony.
Vintage Omega Seamaster
A vintage Omega Seamaster is a timeless classic that, like many other vintage watches, makes an ideal unisex watch. Models from the 1950s and 60s in particular make elegant dress watches and measure 34 to 36 mm. This means they also suit slimmer wrists, but don’t look out of place on larger wrists due to their vintage charm. The simple design also makes the Seamaster a versatile companion. Searching for a vintage watch is a wonderful hobby that you can pursue with a friend once you’ve found the right one. Hunting for the perfect vintage watch can be exciting and entertaining – and sharing the joy makes it twice the fun.
Which watch do I share the most?
For a long time, my Datejust was the watch I shared the most. But then it was replaced by several Swatch watches. Why? We’ve stopped buying classic souvenirs on vacation and instead treat ourselves to a fun Swatch model that we can both wear. It not only brings back memories of the vacation, but also of us as a couple. We both like to wear colorful plastic watches, even in our serious professional lives, because that also has its place in the world of horology.
